Our Story
Cécha is a dream brought to life by Cece and Peter, two international students who moved to Budapest in 2021 and instantly fell in love with the city's beauty, culture, and creative spirit.
Being from Vietnam, matcha has always been close to our hearts - it's more than a drink; it's a ritual of mindfulness, connection, and care deeply rooted in Asian tradition.
In 2018, we traveled to Japan and experienced the traditional matcha ceremonies firsthand, the calm movements, the focus, the harmony. That moment changed everything. We knew we wanted to share that same serenity and beauty with others, reimagined for the modern world.
We started small, in a cosy concept store on Kazinczy utca, where Cécha first came to life. It was there that we whisked our first bowls of matcha and met our first community of matcha lovers. The response was beyond what we ever imagined, and it inspired us to dream bigger. Today, we're proud to welcome you to our second home on Paulay Ede utca, a space designed and handcrafted by us, from every poster to every brick, each detail telling the story of Cécha.
Every cup of matcha we serve is hand-whisked with love and intention, honoring traditional methods while embracing modern creativity. Cécha is a place where wellness meets aesthetics, where calm meets community, a space to slow down, connect, and be inspired.
This is just the beginning. Our vision is to bring the Cécha matcha experience beyond Budapest, into homes, hearts, and to matcha lovers around the world. We're working to share our matcha through new products, beautiful packaging, and future cafés, so that wherever you are, you can bring a little Cécha calm into your everyday ritual.
